Each year on Halloween, we give candy we've bundled up into 60 mm diameter clear plastic balls. They are really ornaments, so we include a slip of paper to tell the kid they can decorate it for their other holidays as well. We roll the ball to the kids down a 30 ft (~ 10 m) chute made of common rain gutter. Year 1 was during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our city declared no trick or treating (which we appreciated). My father, however, at 86 years old declared that to be B.S. He started planning how to deliver the candy in a safe, social distance way. This was his solution, and it's fun, awesome, and the kids (and adults) love it. Year 1 - 65 Candy Balls Given, Year 2 - 200 Candy Balls Given - We ran out in less than an hour, Year 3 - 350 Candy Balls Given - We ran out before it got dark, Year 4 - 500 Candy Balls Given - We ran out before dark again, Year 5 - 750 Candy Balls Given, Year 6 - 850 Candy Balls Given, Year 7 - 923 - 100 of which were 80 mm, We have a blast. 2 Weeks before Halloween my extended family comes over to help us assemble the balls. We provide dinner for them. On Halloween they come back to help us celebrate and give them away!
